Why am I seeing the NULL value in my Analytics Hub data?

This article focuses on why you might see the NULL value in a report in the Analytics hub.

This article focuses on why you might see the NULL value in a report in the Analytics hub (a reporting tier which is only available to Be Collective Full Platform users). To learn how to access the other reports, Summary and/or Key insights, review this article:

How do I use Be Collective for reporting?

Be Collective Full Platform plan offers our clients access to our most comprehensive suite of reporting options. The reporting options available to BC Full Platform users include the following:

Summary: high-level statistics on volunteer hours, fulfilment and impact value (no customisation or filters).

Key insights - high level dashboard overview on volunteer opportunity engagement, volunteer demographics across gender, age, causes, location of opportunities and location of volunteers (no customisation or filters).

Analytics hub - full reporting suite completely customisable with filters across various metrics and specified date ranges. Provides the ability to filter and customise reports to your organisation requirements.

Export data - CSV downloads of your group’s members, hierarchy groups, partners, opportunities, opportunity application, events and custom fields.

Accessing Be Collective's Analytics hub reports is easy. First, open your group management page, then click the Reporting tab in the navigation bar. Next, click Analytics hub to access your reports.

When you log into your group’s Analytics hub, you may see a loading screen. Don’t panic - that’s just the system doing its thing with the data, which can take a few minutes (especially the very first time you log in). Grab a cup of coffee and carry on. Report data is refreshed every 24 hours (at 7am in Australia/New Zealand and 8pm in the United Kingdom).

What is the NULL value?

In different areas of the Analytics hub dashboard, you may see the NULL or null value in amongst your data options (such as an event list, opportunity list etc). You might see this value when you access the filters in the controls that run across the top of the Analytics hub dashboard.

The NULL value exists wherever there is no data. The NULL value is useful when overlapping data from two different sources. Say, for example, you overlap Opportunity data with either all your Sub-group names or all your Event names. The NULL value will appear wherever a Sub-group or Event had no published Opportunities. This is useful when you want to see all the groups or events, even if they don’t have any published opportunities (helps identify overall activity across your entire organisation).
