I'm a young volunteer (under 13) – how do I apply to an opportunity?
To begin, you will need to log in to Be Collective using the email address and password provided by your parent or guardian.
Once you're logged in, you will be taken to your personal dashboard.
If you're under the age of 13, you will only be able to see volunteering opportunities that groups have told us are suitable for your age group.
Find and apply to an opportunity
From your dashboard, open Search in the left sidebar, then the Opportunities tab (or use the search bar at the top of the screen)
Click an opportunity to see more details
Click Apply at the bottom of the opportunity page
In the pop-up, click Request approval
This sends an email to your parent or guardian so they can approve your application and personal details being sent to the group you'd like to volunteer with.
When you return to the opportunity page, a yellow Awaiting guardian approval button will appear.
After guardian approval
If your parent or guardian approves your application, it will be sent to the group for them to review. If they accept your application, we'll let you know with an email and notification.
You will also automatically become a group member. This means the group's manager can contact you through your parent or guardian in the future with volunteering updates, and you'll be able to keep up with future opportunities the group posts that are suitable for your age group.
If your parent or guardian decide not to approve your application for any reason, it will be cancelled and the group won't see it.
This is done to make sure your personal information, such as your name, email address and location, is only seen by the people who need to see it.
