How do I post an opportunity to another organisation's opportunity feed?

This article explains how to submit your opportunity to another organisation's feed through its management portal, including partnership, endorsement and exclusive-sharing behaviour.

Create and submit the opportunity

Use the configurable opportunity submission link or button supplied by the organisation. This is different from the flow for endorsing opportunities already owned by the portal organisation.

  1. Open the link and sign in or complete organisation registration.

  2. If prompted, select the group that will own the opportunity, or create a new group.

  3. If prompted, choose Create opportunity. New groups may be taken directly to a draft.

  4. Complete the opportunity builder.

  5. On Step 5 – Share, confirm the portal organisation and choose whether to turn on Sharing exclusively with this organisation.

  6. Publish, then wait for endorsement unless automatic endorsement applies.

The portal context identifies the other organisation and pre-adds it as an endorsement target. Your selected or newly created group owns the opportunity and remains responsible for its applications and volunteers.

Partnership and endorsement

Creating a new group through this flow automatically sends the portal organisation a partnership request. Selecting an existing group does not. Partnership connects the groups; endorsement shares a specific opportunity. An approved partnership is not required to request endorsement.

After publication, the opportunity reaches the organisation through one of these flows:

  • Individual endorsement: Be Collective sends an endorsement request that a portal organisation manager must accept.
  • Automatic endorsement: When accepting the partnership, the manager can optionally select Automatically endorse all current and future opportunities from this group. It is off by default. If selected, Be Collective:
    • immediately endorses the group's current published, public opportunities that have not ended
    • automatically endorses future public opportunities when they are published
    • marks a matching pending endorsement request as accepted when it creates the endorsement

Private opportunities are excluded from automatic endorsement. If Sharing exclusively with this organisation is on, the opportunity is private and must use the individual endorsement request flow.

If the opportunity is public, it can appear in Be Collective's general search as soon as you publish it, even before the portal organisation accepts the endorsement request. Acceptance controls sharing through the portal organisation; it does not control general public discovery.

Public or exclusive sharing

The Sharing exclusively with this organisation toggle appears when the browser tab has an active portal session, normally carried from the submission link through sign-in. The session lasts up to 24 hours and supplies the organisation's name, logo and endorsement selection. Without this session or a portal organisation ID in the URL, the toggle is hidden.

  • Off — normal visibility: The opportunity follows your normal settings. A public opportunity is discoverable across Be Collective, and the portal organisation still receives an endorsement request.
  • On — exclusive sharing: The opportunity becomes private, remains selected for the portal organisation's endorsement and hides the normal public and member visibility controls. It does not appear in public Be Collective search or the organisation's public feed. After individual endorsement acceptance, signed-in members can see it using the visibility chosen during acceptance; the default is all members.

Turning exclusive sharing on does not approve the endorsement.

If the toggle or organisation is missing

Return to the original portal and open its opportunity submission link again. Complete sign-in and the opportunity builder in the browser tab opened by that link. The organisation context may be missing if you:

  • opened the standard Be Collective opportunity builder without a portal organisation ID

  • switched browser or tab during the flow

  • used a saved link that does not contain the portal organisation ID

  • started the flow more than 24 hours ago

Before publishing, always confirm that the intended organisation is displayed in Step 5 – Share.
