How do I apply to an opportunity with a team link?
This article is for team members. It shows how to apply to an opportunity using a share link from your team lead.
When your group’s team lead has an approved team application, they send you an application link. That link ties your application to the team’s reserved shift.
Your group must have endorsed the opportunity before the team lead could submit the team application. You must be an approved member of that same group. If you are not yet a member, join the group first — see How do I find and join a group to volunteer with?.
Apply with the team link
Open the link your team lead shared (it opens the opportunity Apply page with a team token)
Sign in to Be Collective if you are not already signed in
If you are not yet an approved member of the team’s group, you may see Team membership required or Membership pending instead of the form. Join the group (or wait for approval), then open the link again.
Complete the opportunity application form as usual
Submit your application
You do not choose arbitrary shifts — you are applying for the shift reserved for your team.
After you apply
- While waiting for the host: you may see Pending — via team link. You can open View team application for context, or Withdraw application if you need to cancel (and your account allows withdrawal).
- When the host approves you: you may see Volunteering with a team, with a link to View team application.
The host organisation (not your team lead) approves or declines your individual application.
If the link no longer works
A team link stops working when the team reservation is cancelled, declined, or otherwise no longer active. If the link does not apply you as part of the team, contact your team lead for an updated link or to confirm whether the team is still recruiting.
If you already applied another way
If you already have an application for the same opportunity, the page may show Already applied via team link or ask you to Withdraw team application / resolve the conflict before continuing. Follow the on-screen options, or contact your team lead.
Under 13 volunteers
If you are under 13, your application may also need parent or guardian approval before the host organisation can review it. See How do I vet and approve volunteer applications made by my child (under 13)? for guardians, and I'm a young volunteer (under 13) – how do I apply to an opportunity?.
