Can I request administrator access to a group on Be Collective?
It is Be Collective's policy not to provide any users with administrator access to a third-party group through our platform without clear consent being provided by the group subject to the request.
This policy is in place to ensure volunteer data is accessible only to Be Collective users with a clear use for their data, such as volunteer managers, and only through clear consent.
We strongly encourage users seeking administrator access to another group to contact that group directly so they can provide the administrator permissions themselves. An example could be a volunteer centre requesting access to a local community group so they can support their use of Be Collective.
For more information on how administrators are added to a group, please see the Help Centre article linked below:
How do I add administrators to my group?
As per Be Collective's privacy policy (also available via our public website footer or the user sign-up process), there are a range of practices we must adhere to with respect to administration of groups. Some relevant excerpts from our Privacy Policy have been included below.
This excerpt explains how platform users are informed their information will be shared only to the groups they're applying to join:
When you are utilising Be Collective (for example applying for a volunteer position) you will be warned that you are sending personal information to a third party organisation and you may be required to confirm your consent to that information being forwarded using our platform.
This section additionally highlights user data is only shared as necessary and for its intended & agreed purposes:
We will only use your Personal Information for the purpose for which you have provided it and any reasonably related purpose and not otherwise, unless you have specifically consented to a particular identified use.
This section states that only managers of the group (referred to here as 'staff member or employee of a sponsor organisation') users have signed up to join will have visibility of their member data:
If you are a staff member or employee of a sponsor organisation, that sponsor organisation will have visibility of your registration and relevant activity.
This excerpt explicitly calls out that Be Collective will not share user info with other unauthorised third parties:
We will only use your information for the purposes for which it was obtained which is set out above and relates to the purpose of the platform – to match up volunteers with volunteer positions within the operation of the platform or to apply for work.
We will not, under any circumstances, sell or share your Personal Information to/with any third party for their own purposes, and you will not receive marketing from any other companies, charities or other organisations as a result of giving your details to us.
